Product Description

We developed the testo 871 thermal imager together with our experienced professionals to enable you to work quickly and easily with professional thermal imaging technology. You can generate error-free and objectively comparable infrared images using its handy functions. The IFOV warner, testo ?-Assist and testo ScaleAssist mean you can avoid measurement errors and not only effortlessly achieve optimum setting of emissivity (?) and reflected temperature (RTC) for building thermography, but also of colour scale.

The testo 871 thermal imager– smart and networked

The testo 871 thermal imager communicates wirelessly via WLAN with your mobile terminal devices. The testo Thermography App for iOS and Android offers you the possibility of writing and sending reports on site, as well as saving them online, and of using your smartphone or tablet as a second display or for remote control.

The testo 871 delivers even more informative thermal images in combination with the compatible 770-3 clamp meter and the testo 605i thermohygrometer. Both are available separately – simply order them straight away along with your testo 871. The measurement results of both measuring instruments can easily be transmitted via Bluetooth. The additional output, current and voltage values of the testo 770-3 clamp meter enable better interpretation of measured temperatures. Measure the air temperature and humidity with the testo 605i and easily detect locations at risk of developing mould using the special humidity palette in the thermal imager via the traffic light principle.

Areas of application of the testo 871 thermal imager

Detect leaks, pinpoint thermal bridges, discover structural defects, identify overheated connections or assess mould damage. The testo 871 thermal imager is ideal for applications in daily maintenance and installation work in trade and industry. Quick, simple and reliable for maintenance and detection of defects.

  • Detecting temperature differences from 0.09°C
  • The testo Thermography App enables you to write reports on site, save them online and send them by e-mail, as well as allowing you to use mobile terminal devices as a second display or for remote control
  • Wireless communication thanks to Bluetooth – this means you can also wirelessly integrate the readings of the compatible testo 770-3 clamp meter and testo 605i thermohygrometer
  • Built-in digital camera generates a real image in parallel to the thermal image
  • Critical temperature conditions are directly displayed via automatic hot-cold spot recognition
  • The testo ScaleAssist automatically ensures optimum setting of the thermal image scale, which means you generate objectively comparable and error-free thermal images, for example of the thermal insulation behaviour of buildings
  • The testo ?-Assist ensures the correct measurement result by automatically determining and setting the emissivity and reflected temperature
  • The IFOV warner means the distance from the measurement object / measurement spot size is determined and the measurement spot is shown on the thermal image – you therefore avoid measurement errors because the camera shows you exactly what you can measure
  • Pro software for image evaluation on the PC
  • You can choose to save thermal images as JPEGs

Detecting structural defects and ensuring building quality (also for images of the building shell)

Analysis with a Testo thermal imager is a fast and efficient method of detecting possible structural defects. Furthermore, Testo thermal imagers are ideally suited for providing proof of the quality and correct implementation of construction measures. Any heat losses, humidity and lack of air tightness in a building are visible in the thermal image. The Testo thermal imager makes it possible to detect faulty thermal insulation and structural damage – all using a non-contact method! The testo ScaleAssist function, which automatically ensures optimum setting of the thermal image scale, means you get objectively comparable thermal images of buildings. This makes correct assessment of structural defects and thermal bridges easier than ever before. Finding insulation defects and thermal bridges in the building shell is one of the typical applications.

Easy checking of heating and installation systems

Testo thermal imagers are easy and intuitive to operate, so they are ideal for quickly and reliably checking heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Just a quick look with the thermal imager is enough to discover irregularities in temperature distribution. Thus, thermography can be used to easily locate clogged radiators and leaks. Typical applications for the thermal imager:

  • Pinpointing the course of heating loops in an underfloor heating system
  • Checking radiators for silting
  • Measuring the flow and return temperature

Preventing mould growth

Thermal bridges waste energy. Condensation can also form in these places due to humidity in the ambient air. As a result, mould forms in these locations with the associated health risks for the occupants. The thermal imager uses the externally determined ambient temperature and humidity, along with the measured surface temperature (e.g. via the optional radio humidity probe), to calculate the relative surface moisture value for each measuring point directly in the instrument. Mould formation is therefore visible on the display before it becomes visible to the naked eye: areas at risk are displayed in red, those not at risk in green. This makes it possible to introduce measures to prevent dangerous mould formation at an early stage - including in hidden corners and alcoves.

Support in preventive maintenance

Reliable early detection of damage to production-relevant systems is essential in order to guarantee the safety and reliability of the system and prevent costly downtimes. Problematic areas in electrical and mechanical production facilities usually become evident due to an increase in temperature of the affected components. You can use a thermal imager to detect critical heat conditions (known as hotspots) in your system directly during operation, therefore guaranteeing an additional bonus in terms of reliability. Typical applications for the thermal imager:

  • Quick location of hotspots in electrical installations
  • Detection of critical heat conditions in engines, shafts and bearings
